The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred this weekend on Smiths Creek Road, west of Burns Road, in Kimball Township.
St. Clair County Dispatch received a 911 call just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, reporting an accident involving a hay wagon with multiple people injured. St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol and Michigan State Police responded to the scene.
It was discovered that a 79-year-old man from Kimball Township had been operating a tractor and pulling a trailer with five occupants when it was struck by a Buick Regal being operated by a 44-year-old Kimball Township man. All of the parties involved in this incident were treated on scene by Tri Hospital EMS and Kimball Township Fire Department before all were transported by EMS to local hospitals for further treatment. The driver of the tractor is in critical condition, while the driver of the Buick sedan was treated for minor injuries.
The passengers from the tractor trailer include an 85-year-old Kimball Township woman who was pronounced deceased at the hospital, a 77-year-old Kimball Township woman with serious injuries, a 67-year-old St. Clair Shores woman with minor injuries, a 62-year-old Kimball Township woman with minor injuries, and a 54-year-old Kimball Township man with minor injuries.
