Brown City grads Kayiah Browning, Adeline Christner, Quinn Ostrander and Olivia Parr awarded Seager-Swartz Scholarship

The Sanilac County Community Foundation is pleased to announce Kayiah Browning, Adeline Christner, Quinn Ostrander and Olivia Parr as recipients of the 2025 Brown City Community Schools Seager-Swartz Scholarship.

Kayiah Browning, daughter of Harold and Jayme Browning, graduated as the Class of 2025 Salutatorian. During high school, she participated in volleyball and cheerleading, served as Vice President of the National Honor Society, President of her graduating class, and Editor of the Yearbook. Kayiah is attending St. Clair County Community College where she is pursuing a degree in Nursing.

Adeline Christner is the daughter of Blair and Jeremy Christner. During high school, she participated in golf and was on the prom committee. Adeline is attending Baker College pursuing a Health Science degree.

Quinn Ostrander is the daughter of Kevin and Rebecca Ostrander. During high school, she balanced academics, athletics, and work, demonstrating strong time management and dedication. A six-time varsity letter recipient, she competed in volleyball, track, softball, and golf. Quinn is attending Grand Valley State University, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Sciences.

Olivia Parr is the daughter of Melinda and Scott Parr. During high school, she was involved in volleyball, basketball, and softball, National Honor Society and has dedicated many hours to volunteer service. Olivia is attending Mid Michigan College pursuing a degree in Liberal Studies while playing softball.

The Brown City Community Schools Seager-Swartz Scholarship is a permanently endowed fund at the Sanilac County Community Foundation, established by the late Lola Kay and Miner Seager, proud Brown City graduates and Michigan State University alumni. Deeply rooted in their appreciation for education and love for their hometown, the Seagers created this endowed scholarship to provide lasting support for Brown City graduates pursuing their education at Michigan-supported colleges or universities.

This fund is administered in partnership with Brown City Community Schools and is designed to assist both graduating seniors and Brown City alumni as they continue their education. Students may be awarded the Seager-Swartz Scholarship for up to four years. Through their thoughtful legacy, the Seagers continue to open doors of opportunity for generations of local students, reflecting their belief in the power of education and community investment.
