A crash in Sanilac County’s Flynn Township saw two drivers being extricated from their vehicles with the jaws of life Wednesday morning, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.

Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call around 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, reporting a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Juhl Road and Marlette Road in Sanilac County’s Flynn Township. Both drivers were reported pinned inside their vehicles. Deputies, Aspire-Marlette EMS and the Brown City Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.

Initial investigation revealed that a 2009 Chevrolet HHR, operated by a 23-year-old Saginaw man, was traveling southbound on Juhl Road when it failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban. The Suburban, driven by a 41-year-old Marlette woman, was turning north onto Juhl Road.

A 12-year-old and a 7-year-old, both from Marlette and passengers in the Suburban, were evaluated on scene by Aspire Marlette EMS and later released.

Both drivers required extrication with the Jaws of Life by Brown City Fire Department. The Suburban’s driver was transported by Aspire Marlette EMS to Aspire Marlette Hospital for treatment, while the driver of the HHR was flown from the scene by FlightCare to Hurley Medical Center.

Names are being withheld as this remains an ongoing investigation.
