No injuries or major leaks were reported after a liquid hydrogen tanker rolled into a Sanilac County ditch this past Saturday.
The Lexington Fire Department was dispatched just before 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, to the tanker, which had rolled into the ditch after failing to navigate a turn in an industrial parking lot. First responders reported no evidence of off-gassing or leaks, with the fire department responding with both their engine and tanker.
The fire department confirmed that there were no leaks, aside from a small diesel leak from the truck’s fuel tank, which was controlled with absorbent pads.
Preferred Towing was requested with their heavy wreckers and airbags, with the fire department monitoring the tanker’s integrity as it was removed from the ditch. It was successfully righted and removed from the ditch with airbags.
