A man was found dead Monday morning following an accident in Huron County.
Shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, the Huron County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency responders were dispatched to M-25, about three-quarters of a mile south of Filion Road in McKinley Township, for the scene of a minor injury car crash.
While responders worked at that accident, a Fairhaven Township firefighter noted an unrelated vehicle on its top, in the woods on the east side of the road, concealed mostly by foliage. Investigation suggested that the found vehicle had lost control, impacted with a guard rail and flew into the woods some time earlier. Further examination of the vehicle and its surroundings resulted in crews finding a deceased victim in the wreckage, later identified as a 24-year-old Grand Blanc man. He was retrieved from the wreck by Fairhaven Township Firemen and Bartnick Wrecker Service.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was alone, and had likely left the Caseville area around 04:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 17, at a high rate of speed. Accident investigators from the Huron County Sheriff’s Office have processed the scene and the investigation is ongoing. An autopsy is being scheduled.
Other agencies that also responded were Scheurer Ambulance Service, an investigator from the Huron County Medical Examiner’s Office and a Michigan State Police Trooper.
