Tuscola County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jordan Wade was dispatched just before 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, to a crash at Hurds Corner and Bevens Roads in Wells Township.

Investigation found that the accident occurred between a Dodge Caravan carrying three passengers, and a Chevrolet Suburban carrying five passengers. When the accident occurred, the Dodge Caravan was hauling a snowmobile trailer east on Bevens Road, when the Suburban, driving north on Hurds Corner Road, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and collided with the other vehicle.

All three passengers in the Dodge Caravan were severely injured and transported to Covenant Healthcare for treatment, while the five passengers in the Suburban were treated for minor injuries after transport to McLaren Lapeer Hospital.

The Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Caro Fire, MMR, Aspire EMS, and Lapeer EMS. The crash is still under investigation.
