
The St. Clair County Drug Task Force concluded an investigation into the sales of methamphetamine last Friday, August 1, 2025, with an execution of a search warrant in Riley Township.
The search in the 2400 block of Braidwood Rd in Riley Township also resulted in the arrest of 46-year-old Joel Smith. Deputies located and seized nearly half a pound of methamphetamine, analogues, an AR-15, ammunition, a large amount of cash, and scales. Smith, along with others in the home, attempted to destroy evidence when law enforcement arrived.
Smith was currently out on bond for other narcotics related charges at the time of his arrest last week. He is now charged with 13 felonies, with his bond was set at $150,000 cash/surety during arraignment.
His charges include three counts of possession of a controlled substance, five counts of felony firearm, one count of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine,felon in possession of a firearm, felon possession of ammunition, maintaining a drug house and tampering with evidence.
