Despite the impending retirement date of Chief Brett Lester at the end of the month, no details have yet been shared regarding the second interviews for the Sandusky Police Chief role.
Though the process to find his replacement got underway earlier this summer, progress seemingly stalled following the first round of interviews, with background checks being the cited reason for the delay.
Lester, who began his work with the city in 1998 and became the police chief in 2010, plans to retire effective September 1, 2025.
The Sandusky council also received the city’s 2024-2025 audit from accounting firm Yeo and Yeo at the August 4 meeting, as well as approved City Manager Dave Faber to serve as a voting delegate at the upcoming 2025 meetings of the Michigan Municipal League and Municipal Employees’ Retirement System.
The Sandusky City Council meets again on Monday, August 18, at 5:30 p.m.
