Monday evening traffic collision on Electric Avenue leaves 15-year-old dead

Port Huron Police Department responded to a fatal collision on the 2800 block of Electric Avenue late yesterday evening.

On Monday, July 28, at 10:02 p.m., officers reported that a 15-year-old female had been struck by a motor vehicle while riding an electric bicycle. Initial investigation of the scene determined that the juvenile had been traveling against traffic when the collision occurred. Despite being transported to a local hospital, [she] later passed away from her injuries.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the young girl’s family, friends, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss,” said Police Chief Brian Kerrigan. “This is a devastating incident for everyone involved.”

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene following the collision and is fully cooperating with police.
