A Huron County jury last Friday found Demondre Antonio Williams guilty on all charges stemming from a drive-by shooting in Bad Axe last year.
The jury only took 45 minutes on Friday, July 11, 2025 to find the 28-year-old guilty, following a three day trial in the 52nd Circuit Court.
According to the prosecutor’s statement, the drive-by shooting occurred around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024 in the 300 block of South Silver Street. A white sedan stopped in front of a residence and fired approximately 11 rounds from a semiautomatic pistol into the home. Several bullets struck and penetrated the house, which was occupied at the time; however, no one was injured.
Investigation revealed that Williams was the passenger in the vehicle driven by Jodi Lee Tibbits, 41, of Bad Axe. Tibbits, who owned both the vehicle and the firearm used in the shooting, testified during the trial that Williams fired the shots. Law enforcement officers determined that Williams and Tibbits mistakenly targeted the wrong house during the incident, which began from an argument between Tibbits’s cousin and Williams.
Williams was convicted of two counts of felony firearm, one count of discharge of a firearm in or at a building, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, and carrying with unlawful intent.
After the conviction, Williams’ bond was canceled until his sentencing on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in Huron County Circuit Court before the Honorable Gerald Prill.
Jodi Lee Tibbits previously pleaded guilty to her role in the drive-by shooting and was sentenced to a minimum of 20 months up to 10 years in prison.
