MDOT recently announced that traffic restrictions across 61% of Michigan’s roads will be suspended for the upcoming Independence Day holiday, starting at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 3 and ending at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 7.
While motorists will see suspended operations in most MDOT work zones for the weekend, drivers are advised that equipment and certain traffic configurations may remain in place, like temporary shifts or shoulder closures. However, there is a list of Thumb work zones that will remain active or have lane restrictions during Independence Day weekend.
If necessary, detour routes will be posted at the project location.
The list includes Port Huron’s Blue Water Bridge Plaza, with eastbound I-94 having one lane closed east of the I-69 interchange and Pine Grove Avenue having one lane open in each direction between Hancock and Thomas streets.
In Sanilac County, M-25 will have one lane open in each direction between Derby and French Line roads via temporary signals. M-46 in Sanilac County is also closed between Ruth and Maple Grove roads for bridge work, with a detour posted.
