The St. Clair County Crash Investigation Team is looking into a Friday night incident that left a Cottrellville Township pedestrian injured.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office reports that a deputy responded to a crash at Marine City Highway and King Road in China Township around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, June 20, after reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian and leaving the scene. Also responding to the scene was the Marine City Police Department, China Township Fire Department, and Tri-Hospital EMS.
Though the driver had initially left the scene, he and his vehicle were found a short time later.
Investigation thus far shows that the pedestrian, a 20-year-old Cottrellville Township man, had been standing in the roadway in the 5900 block of King Road when he was struck by an 18-year-old St. Clair man, headed north in his Ford F150 as he left the location.
The injured pedestrian was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital in critical condition, with his family notified. The driver is cooperating with investigators, with alcohol and drugs not appearing to be factors.
