A driver was minorly injured after a single-vehicle crash in Sanilac County’s Elmer Township on Saturday, June 7.

Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call around 11:20 p.m., reporting a single-vehicle personal injury crash near the intersection of West Marlette Road and Shepherd Road in Elmer Township. Deputies from the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, along with personnel from the Marlette Police Department, Marlette EMS, and the Brown City Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, deputies determined that a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 28-year-old Carsonville woman, was traveling north on Shepherd Road when it failed to stop at the stop sign at the T-intersection of West Marlette Road. The vehicle continued through the intersection, entering the north side ditch after striking a directional road sign, before exiting the ditch and continuing north. The vehicle eventually became disabled and came to rest approximately 200 yards off the roadway in a field.

The driver was treated at the scene by Marlette EMS for minor injuries and was later transported to Marlette Regional Hospital for further evaluation.

The name of the driver is not being released at this time. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
