The Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports of a scammer claiming to be from their office.
Recent calls have seen the scammer insist the victim owes money for a warrant, often for things like missed jury duty, with one scammer recently demanding upwards of $3,000.
The Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the public that they, or any law enforcement agency, will never call to demand money or inform you of a warrant.
The office also noted that the calls often come from blocked or unknown numbers, and that the best way to handle this kind of call is to hang up.
