Michigan State Police-Third District is relieved to share that K9 Thor is home and recovering after being exposed to poison this past Saturday.
K9 Thor and his partner, Lapeer Post Trooper Tyler Doughtery were assisting Lapeer County Sheriff’s deputies with a breaking and entering call on Saturday, May 30, when Thor ingested suspected poison while searching a barn. Thor was rushed to an emergency vet for medical treatment before being transported for further treatment at the MSU Veterinary Medical Clinic.
Michigan State Police reported that Thor was able to return home to his handler on Monday, June 2.
This is the second time Thor has been poisoned on the job, having suffered an overdose after exposure to drugs while helping with a search warrant in Flint last December.
