
Port Huron Police report that they have a suspect in custody for a shooting incident this past weekend.
The suspect, 21-year-old Zachary Stein, was arrested Monday, May 19, following a lead from the Sterling Heights Police Department. With assistance from both the Sterling Heights and Troy Police Departments, the Port Huron Major Crimes Unit located Stein at a Sterling Heights home and took him into custody.
Stein was arraigned on Wednesday, May 21, where he was given a $500,000 bond at cash/surety/10%. He faces seven charges, including assault with intent to murder and three felony firearms charges.
Charges stem from events on Saturday, May 17. Police say the incident involved Stein and someone he was feuding with. Both the victim and Stein were operating separate vehicles in the area of Pine Grove Avenue and Prospect Street when Stein began shooting, striking the victim’s vehicle multiple times.
Fortunately, the victim was able to flee the area and was not injured during the incident.
