The county fair associations for Huron and Tuscola counties were among the 22 entities awarded an MDARD grant Thursday to fund capital improvements at county fairground facilities.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s County Fairs Capital Improvement Grants help fund safety and infrastructure enhancements at county fairground facilities, including structural improvements and other building renovations.

Following a rigorous application and review process, MDARD awarded County Fairs Capital Improvement Grants of $100,000 each to the Huron Community Fair Association and the Tuscola County Fair Association.

While Huron County’s award will go towards a housing expansion project, Tuscola County plans to use their grant to support a grandstand accessibility and safety project
