Court proceedings in the homicide case of three-year-old Matthew Maison of Port Huron Township are moving forward, with the child’s mother and her ex-boyfriend being bound over to circuit court on Tuesday, May 13.

33-year-old Amanda Maison and 28-year-old Maurice Houle were arrested on Friday, April 11, 2025, and arraigned three days later on the charge of First Degree Murder. Bond was denied to both individuals.

The arrests in April came after significant developments in the case, which began February 18, 2018, when the child was found unresponsive in bed by babysitters.

Several interviews by neighbors and others indicated possible mistreatment and neglect happening to the child for some time before the tragic event, with testimony in court Tuesday confirming the abuse.
