The Sanilac County Drug Task Force partnered with local police departments and school administrators this past week to bring the Arrive Alive Tour to schools throughout the county.
The Arrive Alive Tour featured a driving simulator that gives students a firsthand look at the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. In addition to the simulator, deputies and officers spoke with students throughout the week about the real-world consequences of poor driving decisions, emphasizing education and awareness.
The event was a success, with six out of seven Sanilac County school districts able to adjust their schedules to host the all-day program. In total, over 650 students participated in the simulator experience.
This initiative is aimed to equip younger drivers with the knowledge and perspective they need to make safe choices behind the wheel.
The Sanilac County Drug Task Force would like to thank area school administrators and staff for their collaboration and flexibility in making this event possible. They also thank the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning and Michigan Farm Bureau for sponsoring this important public safety initiative.
