A Saturday evening collision between a motorhome and motorcycle sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sanilac County Central Dispatch were contacted about 6:46 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, about a motorcycle crash near the intersection of Galbraith Line Rd and Croswell Rd in Worth Township.
Deputies’ initial investigation determined that a 2006 Harley Davidson, driven by a 40-year-old Croswell man, was headed east on Galbraith Line Road. At the same time, a 1996 Maverick Motorhome, driven by a 21-year-old Croswell man, was turning right into a driveway.
The motorcycle was unable to stop, crashing into the right rear portion of the motorhome. This caused the motorcycle to go airborne with the driver thrown from the bike. The driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet during the time of the crash, and sustained serious injuries. He was transported by Croswell EMS to McLaren Port Huron, where he was later transferred to McLaren Macomb.
The driver of the motorhome was uninjured.
Speed appears to be a factor in the crash. Deputies were assisted on scene by Croswell EMS, Croswell Fire Department, Michigan DNR and Sal’s Towing.
Names are withheld as this is an ongoing investigation.
