Huron County man pleads guilty to possession, distribution of child sexually abusive material

A Huron County man arraigned in February on three counts related to possession and distribution of child sexually abusive material pleaded no contest to two of the charges earlier this week.
28-year-old Adonis Rafael Diaz appeared Monday, April 1 before Huron County Judge Gerald Prill to plead guilty to one count of possession of child sexually abusive material and one count of distribution of child sexually abusive material. In exchange for the Pigeon man’s plea, prosecutors chose to drop a charge of using a computer to commit a crime.
Diaz was arrested following an investigation initiated by the Michigan State Police when it was learned that Diaz was viewing illegal and inappropriate material containing minors. During the investigation, digital evidence was seized from the man’s home.
In addition to having to his name added to Michigan’s Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life, Diaz faces up to 4 years in prison and/or a fine of not more than $10,000 for the count of possessing the material and 7 years in prison and/or a fine of not more than $50,000 for distributing it. Diaz will appear back in court for his Monday, May 20th sentencing.
