Though a total of nine fire departments responded to the blaze Monday night, their efforts weren’t enough to save a Tuscola County business from going up in smoke.
T&S Welding, located on Birch Run Road in Millington, was the site of the March 18th burn, with the Millington-Arbela Township Fire Department dispatched around 9:45 p.m. Despite the assistance on scene by fire departments from Vassar, Fostoria, Birch Run, Clio,Frankenmuth, Forest Township, Taymouth Township and Richville, the commercial structure was considered a total loss.
According to the Birch Run Fire Department, the fire lasted for four hours, with state police blocking off Birch Run Road to usual traffic during that time to allow for emergency and fire crews to get in and out of the area.
In addition to the multiple fire departments, Mobile Medical Response and the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene, with the Tuscola County Emergency Services Director Steve Anderson also on scene.
