After about two days without power, residents of Moore Township and parts of Elmer and Lamotte townships had it restored after DTE installed a temporary, portable transformer at the substation.
The main transformer was reported down around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 1, with DTE bringing three diesel generators to the township from Wayne County as a temporary power solution. The next day, January 2, DTE crews got to work transporting and then installing the portable transformer, with the switch from the generators to the transformer finally happening early morning on Tuesday, January 3.
The transformer will remain in place as the substation undergoes repairs, with no anticipated end date given by township officials.
