Woman killed in three-car pileup in St. Clair County

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – One person was killed in a three car crash this morning in Burtchville Township.

Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to M-25, just south of North Lakeport Drive just after 10:00 a.m.

Investigators say a 57 year old Goodells man was northbound on M-25, waiting to turn into a driveway. His Ram Pro Master van was struck from behind by a 27 year old Lexington woman, who was also northbound in a Jeep Cherokee.

After the initial crash, the Cherokee went into the southbound lane and struck a GMC Terrain.

The Terrain, driven by an unidentified female went into the ditch after the crash and caught fire, killing the female in the Terrain who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Goodells man was not injured in the crash while the Lexington woman was transported by Tri-Hospital EMS to McLaren Port Huron Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

M-25 was closed from Burtch Road to North Lakeport Drive and was expected to be opened around 2:00 p.m.

Accident investigators from the Sheriff’s Office were still on t he scene as of 1 p.m. Thursday.

Burtchville Township Fire and Rescue, Fort Gratiot Township Fire and Rescue and the St. Clair County Road Commission all assisted at the scene of the crash.
