(SANILAC COUNTY) – An eight-year old boy was seriously injured in a crash in Brown City Monday evening.

Shortly after 7 p.m., Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies responded to the intersection of Main and Lincoln Streets for a crash between a pickup truck and as golf cart.

Investigators say a 16-year-old female from Brown City was traveling South on Lincoln Street in a 2015 Club Car golf cart and had stopped at the intersection of Lincoln St and Main St.

The driver then proceeded south through the intersection after being waived on by a stopped passenger car that was waiting to make a left turn on Lincoln Street.

The Club Car, as it proceeded south across Main Street, was struck by a 2020 pickup driven by a 33-year-old Clarkston man who was passing the stopped passenger car in the right lane of travel.

As a result of the collision, the Club Car left the roadway to the right, ejecting two of its rear-seated passengers.

The 16-year-old driver of the club car along with a 15-year-old female passenger, 8-year-old male passenger and 16-year-old male passenger all of Brown City sustained injuries in the crash.

The 16-year-old male passenger was transported to Marlette Hospital by Marlette EMS for treatment of his injuries. The remaining occupants were transported to Marlette Hospital by personal vehicles.

The 8-year-old male passenger was later transferred from Marlette Hospital to Flint Hurley Hospital.

The 33-year-old male driving the truck was arrested on the scene for operating while intoxicated by Deputies and lodged at the Sanilac County Jail pending charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
