Authorities investigate fire at Port Crescent State Park

A 10-acre fire at Port Crescent State Park brought firefighters from three departments to the park late last week. Fire officials say the fire was in the Day Use area and difficult to get to, forcing departments to use ATVs and other means to extinguish the blaze that was reported around 8 p.m. Thursday night. Firefighters from Port Austin, Kinde and Caseville worked the scene for more than four hours before the fire was extinguished. Authorities returned to the scene Friday morning to look over the charred remains and try to determine a cause of the fire. The incident remains under investigation and no injuries were reported.
