The Sandusky police department is investigating the theft of license plates in the city last week.
According to Sandusky Police Chief Brett Lester, two license plates were reportedly stolen off of vehicles on Roberts and Margaret Streets last Wednesday.
While on patrol in the early morning hours of May 1st, a Sanilac County Sheriff Deputy stopped a vehicle that allegedly had one of the plates on the vehicle while further investigation of a 28-year old Sandusky man produced the other plate at his residence.
The investigation continues into the thefts with charges likely to be sought from the Prosecutor’s Office.
