Furloughs for Sanilac County agencies

(SANDUSKY) – The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted employment throughout the country and Sanilac County is no exception.
Over 20 million Americans are unemployed due to the virus outbreak and numbers climbing weekly.
During the weekly tele-conference call between Sanilac County officials and local media, Sanilac County Health Director Brian Wilke said his staff has seen a reduction of six people who are on furlough while 12 other staff have requested furlough due to concerns regarding the pandemic.
Wilke said employees are either involved in programs related to schools that are no longer in session or that there just is no work to be done.
Will Morris, Sanilac County Mental Health Director,  said he expects furloughed employees will be back working in his department at least on a part-time basis, as well as from home, within the next two weeks.
