Police give shooting update

(SANILAC COUNTY) – The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigating into the shooting that occurred near the intersection of M-19 and Galbraith Line Road in Speaker Township on November 28th.

Investigators say a 38-year-old male from Deford, and a 38-year-old female passenger from Clifford, were traveling northon M-19 in a pick-up truck and nearly hit head-on by a Dodge Avenger traveling south on M-19, in the wrong lane.

The Avenger was driven by a 39-year-old female from Wyandot, with a 30-year-old male passenger, also from Wyandot. Investigators report the driver of the truck turned around and followed the vehicle while calling 911 in an attempt to get information and have police respond.

The Avenger pulled into the car pool lot near Galbraith Line Road and M-19 with an altercation occurring, resulting in the male subject from the Avenger being shot.

He was flown to Saginaw St. Mary’s Hospital and later transferred to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Authorities say the subjects have been located and interviewed, with additional witnesses being identified.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the altercation, that remains under investigation.
