Sanilac County, Mich. – McKenzie Health System is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) – Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Grant in the amount of $725,000 from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). McKenzie was 1 of 12 organizations nationwide to receive a grant.

Funds will be used over the next three years to build a successful Outpatient Treatment Program (OTP) for the treatment of Opioid Abuse Disorder/Substance Abuse Disorder, providing services from medication assistance, psychiatry, therapy, and case management. As part of the program, McKenzie will be working with Brighton Center for Recovery to bring their expertise to our community.

We realize substance abuse is a serious problem in our area and we continue to search out ways we can make a positive difference,” said Billi Jo Hennika, Chief Operating Officer at McKenzie and MAT Project Director. “We look forward to being able to provide this service to our community and will keep everyone up to date as we move forward.

This program will be developed over the next few months and details will be shared with the community once available.
