Thumb area election results

Cros-Lex voters went to the polls in the only election in Sanilac County Tuesday, giving approval to a 10-year sinking fund that will help the district maintain facilities.
School officials have said the millage, with a final tally of 1,155 yes votes to 666 no votes, will generate $500,000 dollars annually and be used to update various buildings throughout the district.
The successful millage, which passed by nearly a 2 to 1 margin, will not increase property taxes for district residents, according to Superintendent Daniel Gilbertson.
Meanwhile, in Tuscola County voters had a number of school ballot questions to vote on along with a millage request in Gilford Township. Gilford Township voters passed a millage request for two additional mills for ten years by a margin of 139 to 68.
Akron Fairgrove voters passed a bond issue for their school district, generating over nine million dollars for improvements at the older schools with a count of 288 to 229. Millington had a successful millage request, a three mills for ten years request that passed 773 yes to 703 no.
Two other districts had school issues fail, one in Mayville where voters turned down a nearly $10 million dollar request for improvements by a margin of 884 no to 350 yes. Reese voters rejected a bonding request for almost $12 million dollars for 22 years with a count of 741 no to 370 yes.
In Huron County all the ballot proposals passed. Grant Township approved a road millage renewal 43 to 1 while in Oliver Township, voters approved two requests; EMS and fire passed 45 to 6 while a road millage passed 43 to 8.
A renewal of the Sleeper Public Library millage was approved 107 yes votes to 3 no. Verona Township also passed the standard operational millage passed 25 to 0.
