Police are investigating a two-vehicle accident(MARLETTE TOWNSHIP) – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident early Tuesday this morning on M-53. Emergency personnel were called to the intersection of M-53 and Clifford Road around 8 a.m. after a reported personal injury accident, with one victim being trapped in the wreckage.
According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, a 16-year old Marlette teenager was traveling east on Clifford with a 54-year old female passenger and turned into the path of a southbound pickup truck driven by 37-year old Megan Anderson from Kingston.
The 16-year-old driver was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by the Jaws-of-Life.
All occupants were treated on scene and transported to Lapeer Hospital by Marlette and Lapeer EMS Services. The accident remains under investigation and all occupants reported wearing their seatbelts.
Deputies say speed and alcohol were not factors in the collision.
