The Sanilac County Road Commission met in a brief session Wednesday morning, giving approval of ditch and gravel agreements, as well as other business. Over $100,000 dollars of gravel and ditch agreements were signed off on, including $53,000 dollars worth of gravel in Wheatland Township. Another $37,000 dollars was approved for Buel Township and $6,000 dollars for Bridgehampton Township.
The Road Commission took in over $770,000 dollars in Michigan Transportation Funds in April, the highest MTF check the county has received for the month of April since 2014.
Engineer/Manager Robb Falls told Commissioners Ace Paving of Saginaw has begun work on Bricker Road in Fremont Township and will return later this summer for additional work throughout the County.
In other Road Commission news: Road re-construction work continues in Worth Township on 850 feet of Mortimer Line Road that when completed, will provide a Class A road from M-25 west to a new entrance to Huron Incorporated.
The work, which includes a newly paved section of Mortimer Line, is part of an agreement with the township, county and Huron Inc. as part of an expansion project at the manufacturer facility.
McEachin Excavating was the low bidder for the underground drain work, along with a new road under-base and ditching.
