Suspect caught in Marlette B&E’s

Police investigate break-ins

 

(MARLETTE) – On December 23rd, Marlette police responded to a breaking and entering complaint at Grupo Antolin Michigan, in Marlette. It was discovered that someone had entered the building through an unsecured door. While inside, they did extensive damage to vending machines and office doors to gain entry. It was found that several items had been taken from the business.

Video inside the business provided police with the suspect’s identification.

Later on December 24th, officers observed tracks in the snow entering the building once again. The suspect had forced a door open. Again several doors had been damaged and property placed next to doors, appearing that the suspect was going to return for the items.

Because of accumulating and blowing snow, the tracks where the suspect exited the building and proceeded down city streets, where quickly filled in.

During the early morning hours of December 25th, Officers were performing property checks and found Schwan’s had been broken in to. The suspect damaged several doors and vehicles and ultimately stole a vehicle.

Officers were able to recover some of the stolen property from where it is believed the suspect was staying to include laptop computers, tools, clothing, etc.

On December 26th, Police received information that the suspect was at Great Lakes Crossing. Marlette Police contacted Auburn Hills Police Department who were able to locate the suspect and the stolen vehicle. The suspect was taken in to custody without incident.

He was later transported to the Sanilac County Jail where he is currently lodged on several charges.

The suspect is a 22 year old male from Sandusky, formerly of Marlette.

Marlette Police were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police and Sgt. Dubois of the Sanilac County Sheriff Department.
