Infant improves; Tubbs assists family who lost child and home to fire


 
(CUSTER TOWNSHIP) – A 1-year-old Sandusky area infant hospitalized following a fire that killed his older brother and destroyed his family’s home earlier this week is improving, according to relatives. Phoenix, who had been on life-support, is making good progress and able to sit up on his own. The family was awakened by the fire about 1 a.m. Monday at their home on West Snover Road in Custer Township.
Green and his girlfriend, Chelsea Jacobs, were able to escape with Phoenix. They were unable to save three-year-old Dominic. The fire is under investigation but is not believed to be suspicious, according to fire officials.
A gofundme account for the family has raised over $10,000 as of Friday morning. Donations not submitted to the family’s gofundme account can be mailed to Hacker Funeral Parlor, 1201 West Sanilac Road, Sandusky.
In related news regarding the fatal fire, local business continue to help the family, including Tubbs Brothers of Sandusky who is matching donations to help the Green family, up to $5,000.
Officials from the local car dealer said they will match donations dollar for dollar with all funds raised going directly to the Green family. The dealership and it’s employees want to help the family in their tragic loss of life and their home during the Christmas season.
