Sanilac County Community Mental Health to host Walk

The 2nd annual Bringing Light to the Darkness walk will be held in Sandusky September 22nd. Community Mental Health Executive Director Will Morris said the walk is held to bring awareness to suicide prevention.
Organizers said around 100 people took part in last year’s event and are expecting more. According to Morris, an empty chair display – representing each life lost to suicide in Sanilac County, will be on the Courthouse lawn.
The walk will begin at 8:30 p.m. at Maple Valley School and go to the Courthouse Lawn for a luminary lighting ceremony.
In other Sanilac County CMH news,  Executive Director Will Morris said the agency is getting busy, with school back in session.
He said CMH officials are working closely with all seven county school districts to educate students and staff on bullying issues. Presentations will be made in all of the county’s districts this fall, at no cost to the districts.
Morris said it is an important issue to deal with at an early age and CMH will be covering any associated costs to bring the program to county students.
