Police investigate fatal accident
(Sheridan Township) – An 89-year old Bad Axe woman died in a two-vehicle rollover accident involving an ambulance early Wednesday afternoon. According to Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson, Elaine DeGrandt was a patient in the back of a Central Huron Ambulance rig being transported to another hospital.
Police said a pickup truck allegedly drove through a stop sign at the intersection of Sebewaing Rd. and Grassmere Rd in Sheridan Twp. around 1 p.m.
The ambulance driver, 44-year old Brandy Rogers of Bad Axe and attendant 43-year old Paul Shishler of Bad Axe were transported to Huron Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
The pickup’s driver 33-year old Kyle Mausolf of Marlette was not injured.
The scene remained closed to traffic for around three hours for investigation.
