The City of Sandusky has reached a Tentative Agreement with three bargaining groups. The city’s office staff, DPW workers and police officers have all agreed to new three-year contracts and are expected to sign the agreements in the coming weeks. New favorable evaluations for City Manager Dave Faber and Police Chief Bret Lester had been presented earlier, with contracts yet to be finalized.
In other council news, 30 applicants have applied for three vacant positions in the DPW and city officials expect to make their selections later this week. The new hires are expected to begin their duties with the city by May 1st.
Council approved two mowing contracts, one for ordinance mowing that was given to Radloff Lawn Care while the cemetery mowing was awarded to Troy Lee Lawn Care. The city has bid the cemetery work out for the past three years. City Manager Faber said it saves the city a considerable amount of money and this is the second consecutive year the low bid has gone to the same contractor. The cemetery bid came in at $5,250 for the season while the ordinance mowing was approved at $40 per mowing.
