No use in crying over spilled milk; Truck rolls over

(Port Huron Township) – I-94 in Port Huron township was closed Monday morning after a semi truck hauling milk rolled over. Crews later moved the large milk tanker to open one lane of the expressway. The tanker was carrying more than 11,000 gallons of milk when it rolled shortly after 9:30 a.m. Police said a vehicle had run out of gas in the right lane of I-94 and the tanker swerved to avoid the vehicle, rolling over. No injuries were reported.
According to reports, milk spilled from the tanker, flowing into the ditch between east and westbound I-94, soaking the dirt and mixing with the standing water. St. Clair County Homeland Security and Emergency Management officials said about 2,000 to 4,000 gallons of milk leaked from the tanker.
St. Clair County HAZMAT handled the spill and also cleaned up five gallons of spilled diesel fuel just before noon.
Crews were waiting for workers from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to arrive to discuss the spill, which they considered to be a hazard.
