A convoy of area farmers have banded together to donate their flat-bed trucks and large round hay bales and will be traveling to fire ravaged Texas later this week. Eddie Faley, who works at Helena Chemical in Imlay City and Croswell is among those making the trip south. The group hopes to arrive sometime Saturday. The convoy will travel approximately 1,450 miles in a couple days and deliver hay and other livestock feed to help stockmen who have lost everything to recent wildfires in Texas.
Other truck drivers making the trip are from throughout the Thumb including Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola counties. State officials are also working to help with permitting issues through states along the route.
