Croswell man facing charges following theft of vehicles

(CROSWELL) — A 19-year old Croswell man was arrested Sunday following two separate vehicle thefts. Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies took the first vehicle theft report early Sunday morning at a home on Fry Street in Croswell. The owner ended up finding the stolen vehicle on Hall Road near Black River Road in Lexington Township with extensive damage after it had been crashed into a group of trees. The suspect in the case, a 17-year old Croswell girl admitted to being the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Further investigation revealed that the girl’s 19-year old friend had been the one who took the vehicle without permission. After the crash, she also admitted that the 19-year old man stole another vehicle from a driveway on Black River Road in Lexington Township, which was found near the suspect’s residence in Croswell. The 19-year old remains jailed on felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from the crime spree. The girl was released and charges against her are pending. Deputies add that alcohol was a factor.
