Busy holiday weekend for the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office

(AREA) — Sanilac County Sheriff Garry Biniecki reports that deputies were kept busy over the Fourth of July Holiday Weekend. Central Dispatch received 575 calls for service and deputies handled 108 complaints, made 24 arrests and performed 109 traffic stops with 17 citations issued. The calls ranged from policing several injury accidents to assisting with holiday parades and related activities. The Sanilac County Correction’s Division booked 21 people into the jail. The Marine Division was on Lake Huron out of both the Port Sanilac and Lexington Harbors for the Friday and Saturday fireworks. They also responded to one boater assist call while conducting life jacket checks. No water related injuries were reported and no citations were issued. The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Aero Squad also conducted Lake Huron Shoreline Patrols to assist road patrol and Marine deputies in keeping the shoreline and waterways safe throughout the holiday weekend.
