Louise Blasius Celebrates 40-Years at McKenzie Health System

(SANDUSKY) — Louise Blasius is celebrating her 40-year anniversary of service to McKenzie Health System in Sandusky. An employee luncheon is planned this month. Louise serves as the hospital’s Director of Community and Human Services. She started her career in 1976 in McKenzie’s social work department after earning her Master of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University in 1975. Some of her accomplishments through the years include the implementation of the McKenzie Family Planning Program in 1978 and the establishment of the Thumb Area Geriatric Clinic, a comprehensive assessment clinic for frail elderly in both Huron and Sanilac counties. Over the years, Blasius has submitted grant proposals and received funding for a number of projects at the hospital, including medical library funding; emergency services; Generations United activities for older adults and children; a new life-saving ventilator and other respiratory equipment; and, most recently, childhood obesity prevention education and Healthy Lifestyle activities. During her free time, Blasius enjoys taking trips with her family, going horseback riding, kayaking, and cross country skiing.
