Sanilac County Historic Village and Museum seeking volunteers as new season begins!

(PORT SANILAC) — Several events are planned next week at the Sanilac County Historic Village and Museum in Port Sanilac as a new season soon begins. Thursday, April 28 at 9 a.m. is the beginning of the weekly work session. With Spring here, there is much to be done at the village. While there is lots of outside work–like picking up sticks and branches from the yard and cleaning flower beds, there is general Spring cleanup needed in the 17 buildings on the grounds. Help is needed for inside work. Whether you can invest one hour or several, the museum can use all the help they can get and appreciate all efforts. This is a drop in program and will continue for the next 6 months so any Thursday you can help, just stop in and let us know you’re there to help. We’ll have the coffee ready.
On Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m.-Noon in the museum church, residents can explore volunteer opportunities at the museum. Come and be part of the 3rd annual Volunteer Training Event. There are many varied opportunities to participate in the Historical Society. Attendees will learn how to participate “on stage” or “off stage” in activities as diverse as archives, genealogy, gardening, building conservation, tour guide, docent or program development to name a few.
