(PORT HURON) — The 18-year old Fort Gratiot Township man charged in the death of a tow truck driver in St. Clair County has pleaded guilty. Trent Sheldon had been charged with operating while intoxicated causing death and commission of a felony with a motor vehicle. The crash occurred the morning of January 15 at the intersection of North and Keewahdin Roads after Sheldon attempted to pass the stopped tow truck on the right side of the road, striking 28-year old Jason Schultz, owner of Preferred Towing. Toxicology reports showed that Sheldon had marijuana in his system at the time of the crash. Sheldon pleaded guilty Tuesday morning after waiving his probable cause hearing. A sentencing date has not been set. He faces up to 15-years in prison.
