(SANILAC COUNTY) — One person sustained minor injuries in an ATV accident that happened Thursday afternoon on Applegate Road near State Road in Sanilac Township. Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies report the ATV was operated by a 49-year old Applegate man. A 47-year woman was riding on the back of the four-wheeler. The mishap occurred around 2:30 p.m. when the ATV struck a snow drift, and the Applegate man lost control. The vehicle rolled over and both occupants were thrown off. The driver reported no injuries, while the woman was initially transported by Sanilac EMS toward McKenzie Hospital. She ended up refusing treatment as the ambulance approached Carsonville. Both occupants were wearing helmets and alcohol was not a factor. Deputies say their names are being withheld pending further investigation and possible criminal charges.
