(PORT HURON) — An 18-year old man has been arraigned in connection with the death of a tow truck driver who was struck while pulling a car from a ditch in St. Clair County. 18-year-old Trent Fletcher Sheldon of Fort Gratiot Township has been charged with operating while intoxicated causing death and commission of a felony with a motor vehicle. He faces up to 15-years if convicted. The crash occurred the morning of January 15 at the intersection of North and Keewahdin Roads after Sheldon attempted to pass a stopped tow truck on the right side of the road, striking 28-year old Jason Schultz, owner of Preferred Towing. Toxicology reports showed that Sheldon had marijuana in his system at the time of the crash. Sheldon is free on a $250,000 personal recognizance bond with the conditions that he surrender his drivers license, submit to random drug testing twice a week, and have no contact with Schultz’s family. His probable cause hearing was set for March 1 at 9 a.m. in St. Clair County District Court.
