Baker College of Port Huron culinary students, instructors medal at Michigan, Ohio competitions

(PORT HURON) — Students and staff representing Baker College of Port Huron’s Culinary Institute of Michigan earned medals at recent American Culinary Federation competitions in Michigan and Ohio. Program Director Thomas Recinella says that all of the categories had exacting requirements and having everyone who competed earn a medal is truly exceptional. The Michigan competition was held in conjunction with the Michigan Restaurant Show on October 13 in Novi. The Ohio competition was held October 24. Local CIM students who competed and received medals were student Chefs Bethany McKenzie of Jeddo and Allen Sechrist of Croswell. The Culinary Institute of Michigan Port Huron student chefs are pursuing degrees in either culinary arts or baking and pastry.
