Investigation into heroin sales leads to arrest; suspect takes police on short chase

(PORT HURON) — Authorities arrested a 46-year old Port Huron man Tuesday afternoon after the suspect gave a short chase. St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon says Drug Task Force officers attempted to stop a vehicle at the McDonald’s restaurant on Pine Grove Avenue around 4 p.m. following an investigation into heroin sales. The suspect took off from the parking lot and Port Huron Police officers were called to assist. An officer located the vehicle in the area of 10th Avenue and Kearney. The car took off and eventually stopped at 10th and 12th Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody and a search of his vehicle found heroin and cash. A search warrant was executed at the man’s home in the 1600 block of 23rd Street in Port Huron a short time later and officers confiscated $400 worth of heroin, a digital scale, packaging materials and cell phones. The suspect remains jailed on drug possession, fleeing and eluding, and 4th offense habitual offender charges.
