Christmas Time in Marlette

(MARLETTE) -- Marlette will be hosting its annual Marlette Country Christmas celebration this Saturday, December 15. This year's event has been consolidated into a one day with a bazaar vendor sale, the tree lighting and a parade with Santa and his reindeer. The Christmas Bazaar will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Marlette VFW Hall. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The Marlette District Library is holding their book fair from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Ronald McDonald will be making a guest appearance at the McDonald's restaurant from 11 a.m.- Noon  and again during the parade. If you would like to help the Boy Scouts raise funds for their program, a bake sale will be located at CC's Cyber Cafe from 12-3 p.m. Also from Noon-3 p.m., the First United Methodist Church will be cooking up some competition as they have their annual chili cook-off, bake sale and auction with proceeds to benefit Heaven Sent. The tree lighting ceremony will kick-off the annual Christmas parade that will start at 1 p.m. Photos with Santa will follow at 1:30 p.m. at CC's Cyber Cafe. Santa's live reindeer will be downtown from 1:15 - 4 p.m. compliments of the Downtown Development Authority and Tri-County Equipment. Don't miss the horse-drawn carriage rides throughout town, children's activities, raffles, and the homemade sled race.
